Importance of local structure

The stronger and more defendable the structure you live in the better your chance of survival.

- a stone house with small windows rather than a brick/wooden house with large areas of glass is probably better

- shutters on all windows if possible

- a sound roof is essential

- a cellar or underfloor space would be great (somewhere to shelter and store your stuff)

- good locks on all doors and windows

I don't think you would survive very long living here!

Conclusions

Make sure you live somewhere strong and defendable.
